Discover

Expanses of snow, a sky painted with northern lights, the widest lakes and rivers and a population with just as big a hart. The James Bay Tourism region extends from 49th to 55th parallel and covers an area of 350 000 km2 the equivalence of the entire country of Germany. It is on this vast playground that we invite you to participate in our events and outdoor adventures.

Nothern nature

Boreal forest in the South and tundra in the North. It is 120 000 km2 of rivers and Lakes rimmed with white sand beaches.

You are indeed in the North of Quebec. Here the Taiga and tundra are intermingled in a single, raw and incredible visual show. In this great outdoor landscape stands the Otish mountains massif. The Cree of Mistissini gave to this territory the evocative name of " E'weewach ", which means "where the water comes from". This massif is the source of rivers flowing into the three major watersheds of Quebec.

It has a few Great Lakes perched in altitude that remain glaciated, much of the year and several peaks exceeding 1,000 meters of altitude. Some are coming from far away to tease the walleye, Lake Trout, trout, Pike and other species inhabiting the innumerable clear water lakes and rivers of the region. James and Hudson bays are also welcoming fish and marine mammals such as whales, belugas and seals from the Arctic. Lake Mistassini, with its surface of 2 336 km2 is the largest natural lake in Quebec. This immense amazing territory is the pride of many Quebecers and it simply is the paradise for adventure tourism in Quebec.

Cree culture

The discovery of the Cree culture is an always pleasantly surprising experience that will change what you think you know about native culture. Strangely, you may feel more at home here than anywhere else you have ever been before.

North of Quebec, the Crees are calling it Eeyou Istchee, land of the Cree. We consider ourselves privileged to share our events with them. Imagine the calmest, friendliest, simple and cheerful person that you know, now clone this person enough time to fill up an entire village, you will get a taste of the spirit that animates our Cree brothers. Each meeting with them is a journey in itself. They share their rich and inspiring culture with simplicity and authenticity. The ancestral techniques they teach during our events are not taught for historical purposes, they are commonly practiced in their daily lives. The culture and history of the Crees is transmitted by oral and written tradition for more than 5000 years. In fact, one could ask himself whether there is any other place in the world where, after fleeing the crowds and noise of the city, you reach in one day a place where life has persisted in such a beautiful manner. One of the greatest hunters culture in the world based on an harmonious relationship with the earth, water, and living creatures. This is all here waiting to be share.
